ABC News Features Combating Zika & Future Threats Grantee Vayu
On April 18th, ABC News's Nightline featured a Combating Zika and Future Threats grantee’ work with drones in Madagascar with a mention of the U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID's) collaboration. Vayu is being funded to develop, pilot and evaluate the potential to scale the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles to strengthen national health systems’ coverage, reach and responsiveness to address existing and future health threats.

INNOVATION
On March 31st, the Atlantic featured Combating Zika and Future Threats Grand Challenge grantee Stanford University for its innovation MosquitoFreq, a mobile application that detects mosquito species using wingbeat frequencies.
EVENTS
USAID CII co-hosted an event on March 20th parallel to the 61st session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women with the International Partnership for Microbicides, AVAC, the Dalberg Design Impact Group (DIG) and the NGO Commission on the Status of Women Forum. The session sought to better understand the lives of adolescent girls and young women who might use the dapivirine ring microbicide. Learn more about CII's work with human-centered design.

INNOVATION
Reminder! Applications for the newest Grand Challenge for Development, Ensuring Effective Health Supply Chains, are due on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, 2:30 pm, U.S. EST. USAID PRH, with support from CII, launched the Grand Challenge, in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, on March 7th, calling for innovative and transformative solutions to build more effective supply chains in low- and middle-income countries around the world.
