Investing for Impact
The U.S. Agency for International Development's (USAID's) Center for Accelerating Innovation and Impact (CII) released a new report, Investing for Impact, that examines trends in development finance and highlights ways in which USAID is leveraging private investment and applying non-traditional approaches to finance the achievement of our goals in global health.
This interactive report is designed to be an educational resource for USAID staff and development practitioners interested in learning more about recent trends and non-traditional approaches to financing global health.
VIDEO
Check out this Facebook Live video from the Aspen Ideas Festival featuring CII's David Milestone and the Aspen Management Partnership for Health (AMP Health) discussing Malawi's first ever National Community Health Strategy. The Ministry of Health led the development of the strategy with support from key partners, including CII, AMP Health, USAID/Malawi, UNICEF, Dalberg, and Save the Children. To date, the video has been viewed over 1 million times.
HUMAN-CENTERED
DESIGN
This USAID blog features human-centered design work led by USAID's Office of HIV/AIDS and CII in partnership with Dalberg's Design Impact Group to increase the adoption and sustained use of the dapivirine ring – the first long-acting, woman-controlled method for reducing the risk of HIV infection – in sub-Saharan Africa. More details about this work can be found on our Engage HCD website.
EVENT
On July 11th, CII and the Aspen Global Innovators Group hosted a panel discussion around the launch of Investing for Impact discussing new ways in which the development community and private investors are applying non-traditional approaches to financing development and global health. Panelists included Jennifer Adams, the Acting Assistant Administrator of the USAID Bureau for Global Health, Tim Ring, the Co-founder and Co-chairman of TEAMFund, and Alix Zwane, the CEO of Global Innovation Fund. The panel was moderated by Peggy Clark, Vice President of Policy Programs at the Aspen Institute and Executive Director of the Aspen Global Innovators Group. Watch a recording of the event.
