The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) presented on Monday, October 3rd 2016 the National Quality Policy health care and services document to the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene (MOH). The document has been elaborated under the leadership of the Direction of Hospital Medicine and Proximity which is in charge of addressing care and service quality issues.

Côte d’Ivoire has been engaged in the development of its health system to ensure good health for all the people living in the territory. The Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene has made the development of the document policy to improve the quality of health care services a priority. This document on quality improvement is the first of the kind in West Africa. It is a set of guidelines based on values ​​and basic principles for the decision making and long-term actions.

For USAID the implementation of this policy document will not only contribute to the strengthening of the health system at all levels, but will also enhance the welfare and well-being of people in Côte d’Ivoire.  USAID Applying Science to Strengthen and Improve Systems (ASSIST) Project provided a technical assistance.

Mr. Jeff Bryan, USAID Country Director  congratulated the Minister of Health and Public Hygiene and her team for the tremendous work that has been done. He also reiterated the full support of the U.S. government to make the health of populations one of the prerequisites of the emerging Côte d'Ivoire.
