Current USAID programs that support food security objectives include:

  • The New Alliance for Food Security and Nutrition: It represents the commitment of the Government of Benin and the G7 member states to work together towards inclusive collaboration in order to increase private investment in the agricultural sector. USAID strengthens agricultural value chains and works with the private sector and government to develop a reform agenda.
  • Regional Coordination on Cotton with West Africa Economy and Monetary Union: The Country 4 Cotton Partnership Project focuses on, sustainable agricultural productivity, creating new and strengthening existing partnerships, and increasing economic and social benefits to women within the “C-4” countries of Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad and Mali, where cotton is a main agricultural commodity.
  • Expanded access to finance through Development Credit Authority (DCAs): Activities work closely with finance institutions to expand access to finance for small and medium sized enterprises in the agricultural and health sectors.
