Communities are trained to be able to address their health issues

On June 27, 2012, Save the Children, a partner of USAID’s “Azerbaijan Strengthening Health Systems through Integrated Programs” (AZ SHIP) Project, organized a one-day training on community fundraising for 7 members of the Community Action Group in Yengiyan Village of Zagatala District. The leader of the local religious community and the head of the municipality of the neighboring village also participated in the event.

Women’s Participation Program

On June 28, 2012, the USAID funded "Women Leadership in Local Governance" project trained 15 women to incorporate new leadership skills in their respective work with  local government structures,  businesses and NGO communities in the  Yevlakh region. The deputy head of Yevlakh region Executive Power, USAID, local municipalities, community leaders, and women from local executive governmental structures, and local NGOs participated in the training and related presentation on the same day.

On May 18-19, 2012, Integration of Azerbaijani Youth to Europe Organization, USAID’s partner implementing the Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) in northern Azerbaijan, organized a two-day training session on Gender and Strategic Planning in Guba. Twenty two young men and women from Guba and the neighboring Khachmaz district participated.

On April 25, 2012, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in collaboration with British Petroleum and its partners opened a new milk collection facility in Saritepe village (Shamkir District). The new facility will allow dairy farmers in the Saritepe community to sell their milk to commercial processors, increasing income for local residents.
