On May 5, residents of the Azizbayov community of the Goranboy district celebrated the completion of a new medical facility, which will improve healthcare for 930 people in the community.
On April 27, residents of the Ashaghi-Atuj community of Guba district gathered to celebrate the completion of a project to improve the heating system at the local school. They were joined by the representatives of the local Executive Committee and municipality, officials from the Ministry of Economy, and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The project was implemented by the East-West Management Institute (EWMI) under the Socio-Economic Development Activity (SEDA) co-financed by the governments of the United States and Azerbaijan.
KHACHMAZ – On April 21, residents of the Yerguj community of Khachmaz district gathered to celebrate the completion of a road rehabilitation project. They were joined by representatives of the local Executive Committee and municipality, officials from the Ministry of Economy, and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The project was implemented by the East-West Management Institute (EWMI) under the Socio-Economic Development Activity (SEDA) co-financed by the governments of the United States and Azerbaijan.
The Birlik community of Shirvan city completed a major roofing renovation that will enhance the quality of life for over 1,000 people. The project was implemented by the Socio-Economic Development Activity (SEDA) and co-financed by the governments of the United States and Azerbaijan.
IMISHLI – On February 10, residents of the Orujlu, Agamammadli and Jafarli communities in Imishli district gathered to mark the successful completion of the construction of a milk collection facility. They were joined by representatives of the local ExCom and the municipality, officials from the Ministry of Economy, and U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert F. Cekuta. The facility was constructed by a local non-governmental organization, UMID, and co-financed by the governments of the United States and Azerbaijan.
The Socio-Economic Development Activity (SEDA) project continues to bring Azerbaijani communities and local governments together, improving lives in villages around the country. Most recently villages in the regions of Sabirabad and Imishli, and Shirvan city completed projects to improve the learning environment for children and rehabilitate roads. The programs are co-financed by the governments of the United States and Azerbaijan.
SHABRAN – On December 14, residents of the Surra community of Shabran rayon gathered to mark the successful completion of the construction of a pedestrian bridge over the Davachi River. They were joined by representatives of the local ExCom and the municipality, officials from the Ministry of Economy and Industry (MEI), and U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert F. Cekuta. The bridge was constructed by a local NGO, UMID, and co-financed by the governments of the United States and Azerbaijan.
7 December 2015, BAKU – U.S. Ambassador Robert Cekuta and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative Antonius Broek signed a declaration of intentions to launch the “Economic Empowerment for Entrepreneurship and Employment” project, with a total budget of $342,000.
BAKU – Today, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) sponsored a conference on “The Development of Women’s Entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan” as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week at the Baku Business Center.
