“Real Action, Real Volunteering" is the winner of ASEAN Youth Video Contest.

For the second consecutive year, a young video producer from Vietnam was selected as the winner of the ASEAN Youth Video Contest. Jos Quyen designed, developed and produced the video short entitled “Real Action, Real Volunteering,” which depicted youth volunteerism in Vietnam and its relation to the ASEAN Community spirit in a creative graphic animation form. He will be awarded a cash prize of $1,000. The second place video, “The Merit Points” by Mohamad Addin Azhan Bin A Manap from Malaysia, garnered a cash prize of $750 and the third place video created by Chhin Long and Sieng Vireak from Cambodia entitled “Volunteer Woman” will win $500.

The annual ASEAN Youth Video Contest began in 2015 through an initiative supported by USAID and the U.S. Department of State in collaboration with the ASEAN Foundation and in partnership with the ASEAN Secretariat and the ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Youth.

"The ASEAN Youth Video Contest is one of them. Through the initiatives, young people are encouraged to share their views around ASEAN affairs through new media. It is hoped that youths across the region will continue to contribute and benefit from the integration efforts of ASEAN," says Elaine Tan, The Executive Director of the ASEAN Foundation.

This year’s contest, launched in August 2016, focused on enhancing youth leadership and civic engagement through the production of short videos highlighting volunteerism in ASEAN and its importance to building an ASEAN Community. Watch the winning videos here.
