New Delhi, India – In an effort to strengthen commercial and economic ties between Afghanistan and India through trade and investment, the Governments of India and Afghanistan, along with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), opened the first “Passage to Prosperity: India-Afghanistan Trade and Investment Show”. The event brings together more than 200 representatives from Afghan companies and more than 800 Indian participants to forge new business connections and discuss potential investment opportunities.

Kabul, Afghanistan | August 9, 2016 – Today, by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has initiated a new partnerhsip with the Afghan Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled (MoLSAMD) to support President Ghani’s job stimulus initiative through the USAID Promote-Women in the Economy (WIE) program and Promote-Women in Government (WIG), which will place young women between the ages of 18 and 30 in paid internships or apprenticeships, enhancing the workplace skills of women, and improving their chances of getting jobs.

Kabul, Afghanistan – USAID’s Financial Access for Investing in the Development of Afghanistan (FAIDA) program, in coordination with the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, organized the “Empowering Afghan Women through Access to Markets and Financial Services” at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul on July 26, 2016.  The event recognized successful Afghan women entrepreneurs, representing thousands of others from across the country, who have benefited from improved access-to-finance, business-to-business, and internship opportunities facilitated by USAID’s FAIDA program.

Kabul, Afghanistan – Today, the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of Afghanistan (MAIL) and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) signed agreements to roll out new agricultural projects and extend a few ongoing initiatives.  This partnership will contribute to the Government of  Afghanistan’s new strategy toward a “farmer-focused” approach to develop the country’s agricultural sector.
