Patricia Rader is the Deputy Assistant to the Administrator in USAID’s Bureau for Policy, Planning and Learning. 

 

Rader's long and diverse career as a member of USAID’s Senior Foreign Service includes serving as Mission Director in Liberia, Kosovo and Macedonia, and as Deputy Mission Director in Pakistan. Her overseas assignments have also included Tanzania. 

 

In Washington, D.C., Rader served as the Senior Deputy Assistant Administrator for USAID’s Bureau for Europe and Eurasia and Director of the Program Office in the Economic Growth, Agriculture and Trade Bureau. She also spent several years in USAID’s Bureau for Africa, the Bureau for Humanitarian Relief, and in the donor coordination office of the Bureau for Policy Development and Coordination.

 

Before joining USAID in 1980, Rader completed research on the political economy of rice production in West Africa with Stanford University. She also worked as a Research Analyst at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. 

 

Rader has a master's degree from the National Defense University in Washington, D.C.; a master's degree in international development from the Fletcher School, Tufts University in Boston; and a bachelor's degree in English and political science from the University of Connecticut.
