Ms. Mikaela Meredith has over 25 years of experience with USAID. She started as a contractor and joined the Foreign Service in 2004. In September 2015, she started her first assignment as Mission Director in Azerbaijan. Prior to that assignment, she spent five years in USAID/Washington as: Deputy for the Agency’s Africa Ebola Unit (since February 2015); Director of the Office of Southern African Affairs (2011-2013, 2014/15); and Director of Office of East African Affairs (2010/11, 2013). She also served as Deputy Mission Director in Nigeria (2008-2010) and Yemen (2006-2008), and Supervisory General Development Officer in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) (2002-2005).  

Ms. Meredith’s USAID experience includes 8 years with the Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance where she was deployed on 8 Disaster Assistance Response Teams to respond to humanitarian and natural disasters in Iraq, Sudan, Kenya, Somalia, Rwanda, DRC, and Bosnia.  

She earned a Master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of International Affairs in 1988, and a Bachelor’s degree from Union College in 1986.
