Andrew Sisson
Mission Director, Sri Lanka and Maldives

Andrew Sisson is USAID’s Mission Director for Sri Lanka and Maldives.

He previously served as the Agency’s Mission Director in Indonesia, Pakistan, Central Asia and East Africa regions, managing some of USAID’s largest programs worldwide. He was also acting Executive Director of USAID’s U.S. Global Development Lab in Washington, D.C., leading its start up in 2014.

A Senior Foreign Service Officer with the rank of career minister, he has more than 30 years of development experience. He has a Bachelor’s Degree from Williams College, a Master’s Degree and a doctorate from the Fletcher School at Tufts University, and a Master’s Degree from the National Defense University, where he has also taught. His areas of interest include economic and political development, reconstruction and stabilization, and innovation. He is married to Karen Levine, a retired foreign service officer of the U.S. Department of State.
