Infographic: U.S. Humanitarian Assistance to Gaza - Update September 5, 2014

As of September 5, USAID has provided the following assistance to the people of Gaza

On July 21, 2014, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry announced that the United States is providing $47 million to help the humanitarian situation in Gaza. To address the urgent needs in Gaza, USAID is drawing from these funds to provide food; clean water; basic commodities; health care and medical assistance; and shelter protection. As of September 5, USAID has provided the following assistance.

Water - 1.8 Million Beneficiaries

  • 325,720 1.5 liter water bottles.
  • 240,000 Liters of potable water.
  • 115,700 Liters of fuel to water facilities which will produce more than 115 million liters of potable water within 30 days.
  • 20 Water bladders each carrying 10,000 liters.

Sanitation and Hygeine - 486,000 Beneficiaries

  • 81,798 Family hygiene kits.
  • 6,840 Two liter containers of liquid soap.

Food Security - 398,000 Beneficiaries

  • 23,491 Multi-week family food packages.
  • 1,610 Metric tons of wheat flour.
  • 400 Metric tons of canned tuna.
  • 343 Metric tons of ultra-heat treatment milk.
  • 346 Metric tons of canned meat.
  • 330 Metric tons of canned peas.
  • 49 Metric tons of biscuits.

Shelter - 77,000 Beneficiaries

  • 10,080 Plastic sheeting used for emergency shelter needs.
  • 6,600 Mattresses, pillows, and blankets.

Health - 75,000 Beneficiaries

  • 15,800 Liters of fuel delivered to one hospital and two health clinics in Gaza in order to generate electricity.
  • 7 Large medical kits that include medical supplies, equipment, and pharmaceuticals.
  • 1 Emergency medical team comprised of four staff members to serve in a hospital in Gaza.
