WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Assistant Administrator for the Bureau of Global Health Ariel Pablos-Mendez is in Cape Town, South Africa through October 3 for the Third Global Symposium on Health Systems Research. The conference focuses on cutting-edge research that addresses the development of people-centered health systems.
Dr. Pablos-Mendez will co-host a session October 1 on how the health systems research community can support the needs of Ebola-affected countries.
USAID is a leader in global health systems development and is urging the international community to focus on rebuilding resilient health systems in West Africa. At the Summit, USAID contributed to the Cape Town Statement on Advancing Implementation Research and Delivery Science. The statement commits global and national health stakeholders to support, improve and expand health outcomes locally and around the world.
