WASHINGTON, D.C. – USAID Administrator Dr. Rajiv Shah will travel to London on July 11, 2012 to speak at the London Summit on Family Planning, convened by the Government of the United Kingdom and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. By enabling mothers and families to time and space the birth of their children, family planning could save the lives of more than 1.6 million children under five annually. As a follow-up to last month's Child Survival Call to Action, Dr. Shah will meet with civil society and conduct several bilateral meetings on family planning's critical role to end preventable child deaths.
