On Friday, November 20, USAID lost a dear colleague and friend, Anita Datar, in the terrorist attack at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Bamako, Mali. Anita, a Senior Health Scientist for the Palladium Group, was in Bamako working on the USAID-funded Health Policy Plus project to improve reproductive health throughout Mali by engaging with community, religious, women and youth groups. Anita was also a founding member of Tulalens, a non-governmental organization working to provide quality health services to under-served communities around the world.
USAID/Mali and the entire U.S. Embassy community extends its deepest condolences to Anita's family, friends and colleagues. We applaud Anita's work throughout her career and her colleagues here and in the international development community will ensure that her work and dedication to improving the lives of others carries on.
