OVERVIEW

The main objective of RADP-East is to foster the expansion of sustainable agriculture-led economic growth in eastern Afghanistan to contribute to the development of a vibrant and prosperous agriculture sector in the region. The project will provide technical services to increase the competitiveness of selected value chains, expand the number of enterprises that can compete and upgrade their products and services in selected markets, and improve relationships and linkages between those firms and other market participants throughout the value chain.

EXPECTED RESULTS

  • Increase the sales of agricultural goods and services in select value chains by more than $50 million
  • Increase the efficiency and profitability of agribusinesses to strengthen the demand for locally produced crops
  • Overcome the production and marketing constraints in selected value chains to increase profitability of enterprises and increase income for business owners
  • Improve food and economic security as a result of achievements within selected value chains
  • Increase financial returns for small- and medium-scale businesses and the incomes of beneficiaries
  • Increase women’s participation in agricultural value-chain activities

GEOGRAPHIC COVERAGE AND TIMEFRAME

RADP-East is a five-year program that will operate in the eastern region of Afghanistan, which includes Nangarhar, Logar, Laghman, Kapisa, Parwan, Wardak, Ghazni and Kabul provinces.
