Objectives

The goal of the project is to create an informed citizenry able to engage in public issues in order to articulate their preferences and interests to public officials and institutions. The project strives to develop a pluralistic media environment which will improve the public’s access, awareness, and engagement with a range of issues and public interest topics.

Component

  • Production of two weekly TV shows: a debate style show on Mondays and an "In-depth" news show on Fridays that is dedicated to investigative stories on actual social issues. The shows are aired on AlSat-M TV, a national television station.
  • Capacity building of media professionals, production of high quality media products, and increased media outreach.

Expected Results/Impact

  • Professional, ethical, balanced and non-partisan media content produced by journalists. Innovative programs attract and engage diverse groups in debate, which serves the public interest and promotes democratic processes;
  • Diverse groups receive credible information and use social media for wider public engagement
  • A cohort of well-trained journalists and technical staff better able to produce high-quality media products.
