On December 4^th 2013, in Skopje, USAID launched two new energy sector projects: the Clean Energy Investment project and the Industrial Management project.  

“With the installation of modern energy management systems, companies will be able to better regulate the energy they use and make strategic decisions about energy efficiency upgrades.  Saving energy, after all, means saving costs,” said U.S. Ambassador Paul D. Wohlers.  He also noted “Good government policies can create the incentives to stimulate this type of green investment and the formation of new industries.”

The Industrial Management project is focused on increasing the competitiveness of industrial companies by implementing cost-shared energy management systems in their production plants and introducing a systematic energy management approach based on international standards. This project will assist private companies in developing bankable energy efficiency upgrade projects, train local engineering companies in installation and maintenance of energy management systems, and conduct workshops and roundtables on energy efficiency best practices for representatives of industrial companies.

The Clean Energy Investment project supports the Government of Macedonia's efforts to increase investment in energy generation from renewable sources while reducing overall energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.  This project provides technical assistance, streamlines the processes for investment in, and development of, renewable energy projects, and establishes procedures for low-emissions development planning.
