U.S. Ambassador Richard Norland joined Minister of Environmental Protection Khatuna Gogaladze and representatives from environmental ministries in Armenia and Azerbaijan at the South Caucasus Conference on Sustainability and Watershed Management on June 3^rd at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Tbilisi. The conference brought together a broad spectrum of stakeholders from three South Caucasus countries to discuss the sustainability of integrated watershed management approaches, including best practices, limitations and challenges, and lessons learned from experiences in the field. 

The conference was supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Integrated Natural Resource Management in Watersheds (INRMW) program, implemented by the GLOWS’ Consortium under the leadership of Florida International University (FIU).  More than ninety stakeholders from the region discussed case studies related to watershed management, criteria for the sustainability of watershed management, and future plans for cooperation within the region.
