The Ministry of Finance, with the support of the USAID Jordan Fiscal Reform Bridge Activity (JFRBA), released the Public Expenditure Perspectives (PEP) 2015 Report. The report is the result of evidence-based analysis by a team of American and Jordanian experts and assesses four key economic sectors: Education, Health, Electricity, and Water.

Over the next two years, the USAID Non-Formal Education (NFE) Program will provide at least 1,680 out-of-school youth in Jordan with access to a quality education. By establishing 28 new NFE centers and building the capacity of educators in dozens more, the NFE Program will improve educational and social outcomes for youth in Jordan, including for Syrian refugees. The NFE Program will be implemented by Questscope, an Amman-based INGO focusing on youths’ social and emotional development, and in collaboration with the Jordan Ministry of Education (MoE) and local community actors.

Under the patronage of the Ministry of Education (MOE) and with Ms. Mona Yacoubian, Deputy Assistant Administrator for U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and USAID Mission Director Dr. Jim Barnhart, the Non-Formal Education (NFE) Program was launched today at a center in Ma’an.

The United States and Jordan have partnered in development for more than 60 years.  USAID has longstanding programs in water, education, health, economic development and democratic governance. The Syria crisis—and resulting influx of refugees into Jordan—has impacted USAID’s ongoing activities, as well as Jordan’s ability to meet the needs of the people within its borders. USAID supports the government and host communities of Jordan as they cope with the crisis. We have re-oriented existing programs to account for the refugee situation and added funds to focus directly on stresses caused by the Syria crisis.
