The U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) is the U.S. Government initiative to help save the lives of those suffering from HIV/AIDS around the world. This historic commitment is the largest by any nation to combat a single disease internationally, and PEPFAR investments also help alleviate suffering from other diseases across the global health spectrum.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) established its Mission in Jamaica in 1962 and since that time USAID has been one of the largest bilateral donors to Jamaica, committing more than $2 billion (USD). Over the fifty-three years, USAID/Jamaica consistently developed programing in partnership with the Government of Jamaica (GOJ), the private sector, civil society as well as stakeholders and beneficiaries in order to ensure sustainable development outcomes.

BRACED Jamaica, a USAID OFDA funded program in Jamaica in partnership with Habitat for Humanity's Latin American and Caribbean disaster response program. The program will focus on shelter and development, water and sanitation, and land tenure policy issues.

United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will be celebrating its 53rd year in existence on November 3. Since its inception in 1961, USAID commenced providing aid support to Jamaica just one year after, making 2014 the anniversary of fifty two years of partnership with this country. In an effort to highlight this milestone, the Prime Minister of Jamaica, the Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller has a congratulatory message.
