On March 4, Mission Director for USAID/Ghana, James Bever, traveled to Tamale to kick-off two Feed the Future funded projects in the region: the launch of the Savanna Agricultural Research Institute (SARI) and a groundbreaking for the new Ghana Seed Inspection Unit.

On 24 February, 2015, USAID, in collaboration with key regional partners, kicked off a series of roundtable discussions on generating sustainable gains in child literacy and numeracy nationwide.  To further this goal, regional actors, including, Education Offices, Coordinating Councils, Ghana Education Service national representatives and USAID’s Ghana Mission Education team will gather for introductory Partnership for Education meetings through March 31, 2015

February 19, 2015, the Minister of Education, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman and the United States Ambassador to Ghana, Gene A. Cretz, inaugurated a newly-furnished two-story Municipal Directorate of Education Office complex for the Ledzokuku Krowor Municipality.

On January 27, community members gathered with village chiefs, national, and international dignitaries for a ribbon-cutting at the Nutrition Rehabilitation Center in Nkwanta South District. The center is the first of its kind for the region and for Ghana, and will play a critical role in planned prevention of malnourishment for children under the age of five.  USAID Ghana's Deputy Mission Director Andy Karas called it, “a hub of hope.”

The USAID Ghana's Mission Director, Mr. James A. Bever, and UNICEF Country Representative for Ghana, Ms. Susan Namondo Ngongi, signed an agreement on January 22, 2015 that reinforces USAID’s and UNICEF’s partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service to improve the quality of education in Ghana. Through the agreement, USAID will provide UNICEF with $14.5 million to expand its work on improving learning outcomes and fostering more inclusive basic education in Ghana.
