USAID Ghana to Support Electoral Commission in Conducting District Elections

Accra, Ghana – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is pleased to partner with the Electoral Commission of Ghana in its preparations for the district-level elections on September 1, 2015. U.S. Embassy representatives will be observing the elections.

Prior to the district-level elections, USAID/Ghana supported training for women, youth, and people with disabilities in 86 districts throughout Ghana. USAID/Ghana also supported training for local civil society organizations to work to increase the participation of women and other low-participation groups in Ghana’s election process.

The aim of USAID/Ghana's Democracy, Rights and Governance programs is to support improved local government performance, increased accountability to citizens, and transparent electoral processes.
