Mukhrana Village is a small settlement of 500 ethnic Azeri households located in East Georgia’s Bolnisi Municipality. For years, the local school’s gymnasium was in such poor condition that it could not be used. Thanks to a group of 10th grade students, young people are now using their fully rehabilitated gym for a series of activities promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Genadi Asatiani and his family own about a hectare of land in Western Georgia’s Tsaishi Village. In 2013, he applied for and received a small grant from USAID to build a greenhouse heated entirely by an underground hot spring.

USAID’s Advancing CSO Capacities and Engaging Society for Sustainability (ACCESS) project, implemented by East‐West Management Institute, is partnering with a local grassroots organization, the Center for Civic Activities (CCA). Building on the trust cultivated in this isolated community over many years, CCA is undertaking small but effective youth‐focused civic engagement initiatives.

Ambassador Kelly Gives Opening Remarks at National Disability Rights Day Forum

The Coalition for Independent Living (CIL), with support from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), will mark National Disability Rights Day with a forum on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). The forum will raise public awareness about disability rights issues in Georgia and around the world.
