Semera, Afar Region, Ethiopia - Please join us in congratulating the Aged and Children’s Pastoralist Association (ACPA) for their achievement in being recognized as the ‘Best Development Partner in Pastoral Areas’ by Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam. The award was made during the 15th EthiopianPastoralists’ Day in Semera.

This brings tremendous, well deserved and earned, recognition to ACPA for all that they have done since their foundation five years ago.

ACPA is USAID’s first local implementing partner in the Somali Region. In additional to implementing the USD $1.9 million Camel Value Chain Development activity, ACPA is also a subpartner of Mercy Corps for USAID’s Pastoralist Areas Resilience Improvement and Market Expansion (PRIME) activity.

The support by USAID and Mercy Corps contributed to the ACPA’s success and featured heavily in the award nomination and speeches. ACPA’s award is a wonderful reflection of the success that USAID has had in expanding resilience and development oriented programming inpastoral areas while giving increasing support and responsibility to local and resident organizations to strengthen their ability to play a role.
