Wildlife trafficking has become a global issue that is threatening our world’s biodiversity as well as national security. It has been proven that wildlife trafficking is linked to other transnational crime - - such as human trafficking, drugs and arms - - and terrorists are using wildlife as a source to fund their activities. It is an urgent matter that we have to address. It is everybody’s responsibility to help stop illegal wildlife trade - - across ASEAN, Africa and beyond.

With support from the U.S. Agency for Interanational Development (USAID), the iTHINK campaign raises awareness about wildlife trafficking.  It encourages people to take action and put an end to the problem.

iTHINK Thailand invited people from various sectors to speak for the campaign as key opinion leaders. The wildlife champions represent key conservation leaders. They share their thoughts on how serious wildlife trafficking is and what they think we can do to stop it. Government officials, diplomats, news reporters and celebrities joined the campaign.

This year, we are launching a new set of iTHINK Thailand key opinion leaders.  We remind both the public and private sectors that wildlife trafficking, which is still increasing, needs to be urgently addressed.

Celebrities provide an excellent way to send a message to a large number of people.  This new set of iTHINK Thailand key opinion leaders is a promising step forward for the iTHINK campaign.

The United States Government commends Thailand for giving more attention to wildlife issues. Public and private sector involvement has increased drastically to help in conservation effrots and to combat wildlife trafficking.

Each one of us can be part of the solution to the wildlife trafficking issue if we start taking action now. Technology offers an easy option to take action. With the use of social media, you can easily educate your friends and family on why we need to stop wildlife trafficking. Indeed, you can even report wildlife crime via a mobile phone application these days.

Thank you, our distinguished key opinion leaders, for adding your voice to this campaign. It inspires us to get involved in this important cause to help save wildlife.
