USAID Cambodia input for McGovern Dole applications

USAID Cambodia aims to share relevant information to facilitate efforts to align United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) McGovern Dole efforts in Cambodia with ongoing and planned USAID Cambodia activities.

USAID Cambodia works in several areas that are relevant to the McGovern Dole program, specifically in the areas of Feed the Future (FTF), the Global Health Initiative (GHI), nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and basic education. An overview of our work in these sectors can be found here: https://www.usaid.gov/cambodia/our-work

USAID Cambodia’s FTF efforts are concentrated in Pursat, Battambang, Kampong Thom and Siem Reap provinces. Current efforts focus on three value chains including rice, fish and vegetables. The 2016-2020 activities are currently under design, but are expected to focus in the same geographic area and on the same value chains.

USAID Cambodia’s nutrition and WASH activity, called NOURISH, has an integrated FTF, GHI and WASH approach to address high rates of malnutrition among mothers and children under age two.  The NOURISH project is concentrated in three of the four FTF  provinces: Pursat, Battambang and Siem Reap.

USAID Cambodia’s basic education activity is currently under design.  The new activity will align with USAID’s Basic Education strategy and have a focus on early grade reading. The activity will work nationwide to increase early grade reading outcomes in as many parts of the country as possible.

USAID Cambodia welcomes efforts by the McGovern Dole project to align with USAID Cambodia’s priorities and geographical focus.
