This week, 50 representatives from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) across the Mekong region met in Myanmar to share successes and challenges in effectively involving local communities in environmental impact assessment processes.
The United States and the Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (RISTEK DIKTI) held an event today to celebrate advancements in higher education in Indonesia over the past five years. Approximately 150 people attended the event including honored guests RISTEK DIKTI Directorate General of Institutional Development Dr. Patdono Suwignjo, United States Chargé d'Affaires Brian McFeeters, and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director Erin McKee.
BANGKOK, September 16, 2016 – A five-year, U.S.-sponsored program to combat wildlife trafficking in Asia has significantly increased law enforcement collaboration and public awareness while reducing endangered species sales in several hotspots, experts announced at a press conference in Bangkok yesterday.
On September 8, President Barack Obama announced a new U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) initiative to help address wildlife trafficking in Asia by reducing demand and expanding international cooperation. The USAID Wildlife Asia project will also collaborate with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member states to enhance enforcement of wildlife laws.
Today, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Southeast Asia Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) and the government of the Philippines, through its Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), launched a partnership in support of the Oceans and Fisheries Partnership (USAID Oceans).
