ZABUL, AFGHANISTAN- August 30, 2006, marks the opening of the newly refurbished Health Clinic in Shinkay district of Zabul Province.
August 30, 2006, marks the opening of the newly refurbished Health Clinic in Shinkay district of Zabul Province.
A local construction firm employed 35 people from the area to renovate and expand the existing structure. The Shinkay Health Clinic, managed by Ibn Sina, employs eleven professional staff and treats an average of 35 patients every day; critically ill and injured patients are transferred to the Qalat Provincial Hospital. The clinic will provide increased access to valuable health services to Shinkay and the surrounding communities.
This newly refurbished clinic is one of nearly 600 clinics being built throughout Afghanistan. The Shinkay Health Clinic renovation cost approximately $50,000 and was funded through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Quick Impact Program (QIP).
USAID is committed to the development of Zabul Province and has provided funding for agriculture, health, education, governance, and infrastructure.
