MEDIA ADVISORY
For Immediate Release
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On July 25, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Rajiv Shah will join former United States Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman, as well as Members of Congress and participants from civil society and the research community, to participate in a high-level panel discussing the 2013 Feed the Future Progress Report and continued U.S. engagement on global food security as highlighted by President Barack Obama during his recent visit to Africa. “Feed the Future: Growing Innovation, Harvesting Results” is hosted by the Co-Chairs of the Senate Hunger Caucus, the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, and USAID through Feed the Future. Co-Chairs of the bipartisan Senate Hunger Caucus include Sens. Jerry Moran (R-KS), John Boozman (R-AR), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Robert P. Casey, Jr. (D-PA) and Dick Durbin (D-IL).
Speakers will discuss the collective action required to achieve food security, address future challenges and highlight successes in advancing global food security, such as those outlined in the new Feed the Future Progress Report. They will also reflect on the leadership, continued engagement and consistent prioritization of food security as a topic of central importance to progress toward a world where hunger, poverty and undernutrition are no longer barriers to global stability, shared prosperity and economic growth.
