USAID to Launch New Policy on Youth in Development

WASHINGTON, DC – USAID will release the Agency’s new Policy on Youth in Development at a launch event in Washington, DC. USAID Administrator Rajiv Shah, UN Youth Champion Monique Coleman, International Youth Foundation President & CEO Bill Reese as well as youth and expert panelists will attend the launch event to discuss the new policy and the importance of youth engagement in global development. The policy launch event is co-sponsored with the Alliance for International Youth Development.

In his opening remarks to an audience of over 200 youth development leaders, Administrator Shah will highlight USAID’s new Policy on Youth in Development and the Agency’s plans to recognize, support, prepare, engage and protect youth today as well as harness the energy and creativity of young people to create development solutions. Administrator Shah’s remarks will be followed by a discussion on youth in global development with the Administrator, Monique Coleman and Bill Reese. Next, a panel with youth and expert participants will follow.
