WASHINGTON, D.C. – On September 19, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Chief Strategy Officer Carla Koppell will participate in a panel discussion on “A Call To Action: Taking A Stand Against Gender-Based Violence” hosted by The New Republic in partnership with CARE. The event will take place at the Newseum in Washington, D.C.
One in three females will be the survivor of gender-based violence (GBV) in their lifetime. The global movement to confront GBV has been rejuvenated. In March, the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women made commitments to strengthen policies that protect women and implement services to prevent and respond to gender-based violence. The panelists including Cindy Dyer, Vice President of Human Rights at the Vital Voices Global Partnership, Neil Irvin, Executive Director, Men Can Stop Rape, and Sujata Warrier, Director for the New York Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, will address what it takes to end the cycle of violence.
