USAID Administrator travels to Ethiopia

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Dr. Rajiv Shah will visit Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. During his visit, Administrator Shah will meet with Ethiopian Minister of Health Dr. Kesetebirhan Admassu to discuss the upcoming international meeting “African Leadership on Child Survival—A Promise Renewed,” set to take place January 16-18, 2013 in Addis Ababa. The international conference will bring together Ministers of Health from 54 African countries with global experts to ensure child survival is at the forefront of the social development agendas across the continent.

Administrator Shah will also join Senator James Inhofe (R-OK), Senator John Boozman (R-AR), Congressman Steve Pearce (R-NM), Congressman Vernon Buchanan (R-FL) and Congressman Erik Paulsen (R-MN) in a visit to Project Mercy http://www.projectmercy.org, a USAID/Ethiopia http://ethiopia.usaid.gov -supported non-profit organization working in Yetebon, Ethiopia to support antenatal care of the mother and child in the community hospital.
