WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Rajiv Shah will travel to Vietnam and the Philippines from September 9-11.

In Vietnam, Dr. Shah will recognize the transformational effect of past and current USAID assistance to overcome legacies of war and facilitate world-class economic growth and attend an event highlighting some of the exciting economic competitiveness projects USAID supports there.

In the Philippines, Dr. Shah will examine USAID’s initiatives to accelerate inclusive and resilient growth and to eliminate extreme poverty.  He will visit Tacloban where he will learn firsthand about health and education projects that support the recovery of Typhoon Haiyan-affected communities. He will also meet with private sector partners Coca-Cola and Procter & Gamble on joint initiatives to assist small store (sari sari) owners affected by the Typhoon.
