WASHINGTON – Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Francisco Sánchez will deliver opening remarks at a Doing Business in Africa (DBIA) forum hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on July 30. The forum will feature a pair of panel discussions highlighting the many business opportunities for U.S. companies interested in trade and investment in Africa. Sanchez’s remarks will highlight current investment and operations in Africa, as well as the support available to U.S. companies interested in exporting to the continent.

A panel of U.S. Government officials and private sector executives will discuss infrastructure opportunities in Africa and how to unitize government resources to do business in Africa.  A second panel comprised of U.S. energy companies and U.S. Government representatives will discuss the Administration’s Power Africa initiative and how this will impact U.S. companies’ ability to trade and invest in Africa.

The region of sub-Saharan Africa has become one to the fastest growing regions on the globe with seven of the ten fastest growing markets in the world. U.S. trade to and from Africa has tripled over the last decade. The United States has exported $22.6 billion in goods in services to the sub-Saharan Africa region alone within the last year.
