WASHINGTON, D.C. – On March 22-25, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Assistant Administrator for Democracy, Conflict, and Humanitarian Assistance Nancy Lindborg will travel to South Sudan to see firsthand U.S. efforts to respond to the escalating humanitarian crisis in that country.  During the trip, Assistant Administrator Lindborg will meet with government officials, USAID staff, and international partners.

Since violence erupted on December 15, 2013, more than 900,000 people have been forced to flee their homes and are displaced in insecure and underserved areas of South Sudan and neighboring countries. The United States is the leading donor of humanitarian assistance to South Sudan, providing nearly $324 million dollars to date in Fiscal Years 2013 and 2014 to aid groups working on the ground to save lives.
