USAID Assistant Administrator Stivers Travels to Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Laos

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Assistant Administrator for Asia Jonathan Stivers will travel to Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Laos from January 20-29, 2016, to oversee U.S. development initiatives ranging from health to economic development to governance as well as meet with USAID Asia mission directors, government officials, implementing partners, and civil society leaders.

In Thailand, Stivers, Asia Bureau Senior Deputy Assistant Administrator Gloria Steele, and Deputy Assistant Administrator Ann Marie Yastishock will participate in a three-day conference with Asia mission directors. He will then travel to Sri Lanka where he will meet with the secretary-general of the parliament, election commissioners, and other senior government officials. He will also visit the Biz+ economic development project in Eastern Province, meet with Public-Private Alliance partners, and hold roundtable discussions with journalists and civil society representatives. In Laos, AA Stivers' visit will focus largely on health issues. He will travel to four villages near Luang Prabang to assess USAID's health and water and sanitation programs and then meet with the minister of health in Vientiane.
