May 19, 2014: Nature Seychelles in collaboration with Black Pearl Farm Ltd is beginning a project to restore giant clams in the waters of Praslin, where aquaculture-raised giant clams (Tridacna maxima) will be translocated. Roald and Kari Nilsen of Black Pearl Farm will donate 120 aquaculture-raised giant clams for re-introduction into the wild. The Nature Seychelles' Reef Rescuers project previously translocated 30 clams from Black Pearl Farm as an experimental pilot program. It forms part of the USAID-funded coral reef restoration project.
