WASHINGTON, D.C. - On Wednesday, March 9, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Gayle Smith will give her first major policy speech at the Dirksen Senate Office Building, on Capitol Hill. Administrator Smith will join the Brookings Institution and the American Enterprise Institute to discuss her priorities for the next year, USAID's response to crises around the world, and the future of U.S. leadership in international development. Senator David Perdue (R-GA), Chairman of the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on State Department and USAID Management, and Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) of the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and Committee on Appropriations will also provide welcoming remarks.
