Higher Education Project: Kabul Medical University

The Higher Education Project (HEP) is working with the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) and the Kabul Medical University (KMU) to improve the pre-service medical training offered in Afghan public universities to meet workforce needs and to establish a cadre of doctors graduating from Afghanistan’s public universities who are able to offer high quality services in accordance with the Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and the Essential Package of Hospital Services (EPHS). HEP is helping the KMU to strengthen its relationships and collaboration with the MoPH and the six other public medical faculties in Kandahar, Nangarhar, Khost, Hirat, Balkh, and Kapisa provinces; revise and update its medical curriculum; improve teaching methods; strengthen systems of clinical rotations; and revise and rationalize admission requirements.
