WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) swore in Dana Mansuri as the mission director to Nigeria. Mansuri will oversee a program totaling over $600 million annually. In its development partnership with Nigeria, the U.S. Government seeks to strengthen social stability through improved social services, support transparent and accountable governance, promote a more market-led economy, and enhance Nigeria's capacity as a responsible regional trade partner. USAID Deputy Administrator Donald Steinberg administered the oath of office at the swearing-in ceremony.

Mansuri's career at USAID spans nearly 20 years. She most recently served in Jordan as USAID deputy mission director. She completed her assignment to Jordan in June 2011, serving the final nine months of her tour as the acting mission director.

Mansuri started her career in international development as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Burkina Faso. Before taking her position in Jordan, Mansuri served as assistant director in Morocco; executive officer in Morocco, Tanzania and Ethiopia; program officer for the Africa Bureau; and project manager/information technology specialist for the Management Bureau in USAID/Washington.

Mansuri earned a bachelor's degree in Spanish Language & Literature at the University of Washington. She received her master's degree in International Business Management at the American Graduate School of International Management. Mansuri is married with two children.
