With the support of USAID, through the Albanian Justice Sector Strengthening Project (JuST), and in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce in Albania (AmCham), the Law Faculty of the University of Tirana organized for the first time a “Career Day” in its premises, today.

The event targeted the Faculty’s soon-to-be graduates of its Master’s program who were able to interact in nearly 20 stands with representatives of businesses interested in hiring law students, such as law firms, banks, mobile telephone operators, insurance companies, as well as from headhunting companies, educational agencies, and international organizations.

The Dean of the Faculty, Altin Shegani, the USAID/Albania Mission Director, Jim Barnhart, and the AmCham Albania Executive Director, Floreta Luli-Faber were on hand for the ceremonial opening of the “Career Day”.

The activities were preceded also by a training seminar on how to interview for a job opening and how to prepare a CV. Unlike other job fairs, the Career Day at the Law Faculty of the University of Tirana was not geared simply toward senior student’s job placement, but also exposing them to potential avenues for postgraduate studies or work and travel programs available in foreign countries. It helped promote employment, internship and scholarship opportunities as upcoming graduates prepare to enter a new stage in their professional life. Based on its success and the demand for such activities by the students, it is hoped that the “Career day” will become a regular event organized by the Tirana University Law Faculty, which is by far the largest law school amongst public and private universities offering legal studies in Albania.
