USAID Administrator Shah Participates in Panel on Economic Statecraft

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On December 10, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Program on America and the Global Economy will co-host a panel discussion on Secretary Clinton’s Economic Statecraft agenda at the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington, D.C. USAID Administrator Rajiv Shah will make opening remarks at the inter-agency panel that will focus on, “Economic Statecraft: Developing Partnerships with the Private Sector.”  The Economic Statecraft agenda aims to expand employment opportunities by promoting a level playing field, helping U.S. businesses to expand exports of goods and services, and attracting foreign investment to the U.S.  USAID plays a central role in helping to create foreign markets which are competitive, transparent and integrated into the rules-based global trading system.  The panelists will highlight cooperation in implementing Secretary Clinton’s Economic  Statecraft agenda and outline how their respective agencies are working with the private sector to expand trade and investment, and advocate for U.S. business interests.

The panel will also feature leadership from the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation.
