Administrator Shah to Participate in Yemen Donor Conference and Travel to Refugee Areas along the Jordanian Border

WASHINGTON, D.C. – From September 3rd-5th Dr. Rajiv Shah, Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) will travel to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Amman, Jordan.
In Riyadh Administrator Shah will be leading the U.S. government delegation to Yemen’s Donor Conference. The conference is co-hosted by the World Bank, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the Government of the Republic of Yemen.
This conference is an important opportunity for the international community to engage in direct dialogue with the Yemeni government and international partners about advancing political, economic, security and governance reform in Yemen. This meeting will also help guide international assistance and development efforts through discussions with Yemeni interlocutors, including the private sector, non-governmental organizations, and other international partners.
The United States continues to stand by the Yemeni people as they take steps to realize a more secure, prosperous, and democratic future.
While in Jordan on September 5th, Administrator Shah will meet with senior Jordanian officials, representatives of the United Nations, international non-governamental organizations, and others to discuss the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Syria and U.S. assistance for those affected by the crisis. Administrator Shah will also travel to areas along the Jordanian border and speak with individuals who have fled the violence in Syria.
