The President’s Malaria Initiative and Peace Corps Announce a New Partnership to Mobilize Against Malaria in Africa

WASHINGTON, D.C. - On April 26th, USAID Administrator Shah, Peace Corps Director Aaron S. Williams, and U.S. Global Malaria Coordinator Rear Admiral Tim Ziemer will announce a partnership between the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) and the Peace Corps. The partnership will center on Peace Corps volunteers who, in close collaboration with PMI resident advisors, will support national malaria control programs and expand malaria activities into hard to reach communities throughout Africa. The collaboration is also consistent with the Global Health Initiative’s focus on public partnerships and building country capacity.

Opinion writer for the Washington Post, Michael Gerson will moderate a panel of key leaders who have led the fight against malaria. The panel will discuss how science and technology, forging partnerships, mobilizing at the grassroots level and policy changes have led to this new partnership.
