James Watson Sworn in as Mission Director for Honduras

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, USAID Administrator Raj Shah swore in James Watson as the new Mission Director for Honduras. Mr. Watson will lead development assistance efforts to foster citizen security and social justice, increase food security and economic growth, and improve education and health.

Mr. Watson began his career at USAID in 1989. He served in Hungary as the mission’s Project Development Officer and Local Government Team Leader.  He then spent three years as the Romania and Turkey Desk Officer and later Deputy Chief of the Civil Society Division. 

At the USAID Mission in the Caucasus, Mr. Watson served as Chief of the Economic Restructuring Office. He later served as Program Officer in Mozambique and in Southern Africa. Most recently, Mr. Watson served as Deputy Mission Director and Acting Mission Director in the Dominican Republic. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia.
