Global Youth Service Day Celebrated in Kosovo

Sports Center in Vushtrri/Vuctirn was bustling with youth on the morning of April 25th known as Global Youth and Service Day. Kosovo youth were celebrating this day by exhibiting their works and projects in chemistry, biology, architecture, arts and culture, social work and other fields.

Over 120 young people participated in the opening of the three-day Science and Technology Fair. Youth from different municipalities presented their knowledge to the visitors.

“Be the change. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things to happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope,” said USAID Director Maureen A. Shauket quoting Kofi Annan.  Shauket visited each of the booths and listened the explanations of each project with enthusiasm.

This is the second time that youth of Kosovo are marking the Global Youth Service Day through creating a space for young people from all over Kosovo to share their ideas, experiences and academic projects.  USAID supported Lëvizja Koha’s efforts by working with the Local Youth Action Councils and Youth Directories in seven partner municipalities to recruit young people from all ethnic backgrounds to participate in the fair.
