WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Dana Mansuri was sworn in as the U.S. Agency for International Development’s mission director for Morocco.  In this capacity she will oversee USAID development assistance to the Moroccan people.

“As we convene for Dana’s swearing-in ceremony, we are reminded of the strength and longevity of the relationship between the United States and Morocco.  For over 50 years, our governments have worked together to make real and substantial improvements in the lives of Moroccan citizens. Since 1957, the American people, through USAID, have invested in the human, economic and institutional development of Morocco,” said USAID Acting Assistant Administrator for the Middle East, Alina Romanowski.  She added, “Dana’s experience most recently as the USAID Mission Director in Nigeria and in previous posts in Jordan, in Morocco from 2001-2006, and during a critical time in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania , make her well qualified to return to Morocco to head USAID’s mission there.”

A career Foreign Service Officer, Mansuri served as the mission director for USAID/Nigeria from 2011 to 2013. In Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country and a strategic U.S. partner,  Mansuri was responsible for a budget exceeding $400 million to promote peace and stability, improve governance, foster non-oil economic growth, expand and improve the delivery and quality of education and health services to include prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS.

During her 20-year career at USAID, Mansuri has served in a variety of position. She was deputy mission director to Jordan from 2006 to 2011, serving the final nine months of her tour as the acting mission director.  She also served in Morocco from 2001 to 2006 as the executive officer and completed her final year as the assistant director/program officer.  Other assignments include executive officer in Tanzania and Ethiopia; program officer for the Africa Bureau and project manager/information technology specialist for the Office of Information Resources Management in Washington D.C.

Prior to joining USAID, Mansuri was a project manager for Executive Resource Associates; a senior management analyst at Booz, Allen & Hamilton, Inc.; and a Peace Corps Volunteer in Burkina Faso.  Mansuri holds a Master of International Business Administration from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird) in Arizona and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington in Seattle.
