The second phase of Women in Online Work (WOW) kicked off on February 14th. USAID Kosovo Mission Director James Hope joined by the Deputy Minister for Economic Development Besa Zogaj and mayor of the municipality of Gjilan/Gnjilane Lutfi Haziri in the signing ceremony of the Memorandum for Collaboration.

WOW carries out a training program for IT-related jobs in Gjilan/Gnjilane and Pristina municipalities, investing in and scoping technical assistance to mobilize and skill 110 women, 60 of which come from Gjilan/Gnjilane municipality to work online using internet labor marketplaces. The aim is to help beneficiaries generate incomes through online work, while testing how the global digital economy could assist in creating inclusive and better employment opportunities for unemployed and underemployed women.

The second phase of WOW is a collaborative seven-month initiative supported by USAID EMPOWER Private Sector and Advancing Kosovo Together – Local Solution and implemented by Cacttus, a local IT company.
