Ambassador Delawie visiting Jaha's solar panel manufacturing plant
USEP

Ambassador Greg Delawie visited the Jaha Solar Panel factory on July 25th, the first (and currently only) factory in Kosovo to produce and export photovoltaic solar panels.  Founded in 2016, Jaha Solar currently employs 37 staff and can now produce enough solar panels in a year’s time to generate 250 MW of power.

During the visit Ambassador Delawie stressed the U.S. commitment to the development of renewable energy sources in Kosovo, and there have been several successful collaborations between the U.S. and Jaha Solar through USAID’s Empower Private Sector project.  The most recent activity is a joint marketing campaign for solar panel installations for households and small businesses, aimed at stimulating sales and job creation in the renewable energy sector.

Through the Quality Certification Program established in cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), USAID is also helping Jaha Solar obtain fourteen quality certificates necessary for export.
